Proper alignment is crucial for the smooth operation of any rotary drum system. A misaligned drum can lead to premature wear, increased energy consumption, and inefficient material processing. Many operational issues—including tire and trunnion wear, excessive bearing stress, and mechanical failures—can often be traced back to alignment problems.
At O’Connor Kiln & Dryer, Inc., we utilize advanced Optical Laser Alignment Technology to ensure precise positioning of your rotary equipment. Our Non-Reflective Total Station Instrument provides ultra-accurate measurements of angles and distances, eliminating human error associated with traditional alignment methods.
Our Alignment Process Includes the following:
- Reviewing original design specifications and slope measurements
- Measuring the diameter and wear patterns of tires and trunnions
- Locating the exact centerlines of trunnion bases
- Determining elevations of all bearing surfaces
- Calculating the required shims for proper slope and alignment
- With this data, we can precisely adjust trunnion rollers to center the drum over its base, ensuring full-face contact of the tires and rollers, even load distribution, and extended equipment lifespan.
Our laser alignment process does not require prisms, targets, or manual readings, eliminating potential inaccuracies. By using direct surface measurements, we can achieve highly accurate results that significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of your rotary equipment.
